Special Order Parts is integrated to work with both front and back counter orders. Special Order Parts are immune to turn offs. A Special Order Part Call will not be triggered, until all parts/inventory for the entire order have arrived. Once that happens, the system uses the Specifications Setup in “Contact Type Specifications,” to determine when to include it in the Call Select Screen. By default, here is how it works: once all parts have arrived, the call will be triggered 3 days thereafter. The reason we use 3 days as the default value, is to allow your service advisors time to contact the customer if they choose to call before this is transferred to the BDC. The calls for Special Order Parts will continue to appear and follow your system designated recycle days. Once the part reaches 30 days old, the system will ignore your recycle’s value, and then appear on the Call Select Screen every day, until you either return the part, or get a hold of the customer to set up a time to get the part installed. Please review the terms of what amount if any, the manufacturer charges as a penalty, to return the part. . If they allow for 45 days, then the default of 30 days is a good setup value to maintain DealerMine is trying to ensure that the Special Order Parts do not exceed the “penalty free” time, if you need to send the part back to the manufacturer.
